Physical Therapy:

Conventional Techniques and Complementary Approaches

The art and science of Physical Therapy (PT) provides a way for individuals to achieve restoration of optimal movement and function following an injury or onset of pain. Spinal pain, extremity pain and headaches are often the secondary result of mechanical problems in the
body. These symptoms could involve joints, muscles, connective tissue and the nervous system. The individual may notice limited range of motion, loss of muscular strength, stiffness, muscle spasm and isolated or radiating symptoms into the arms or legs.

A Physical Therapist works to identify the source of pain and dysfunction after a thorough history and evaluation of biomechanical function, joint/tissue mobility, strength and coordination.

A Holistic Physical Therapist integrates both conventional and complementary methods in her approach to assess and treat the injury or condition. Techniques that empower individuals to take charge of their recovery are emphasized. Consideration is given to all aspects of health and well being, including dietary and nutritional assessments, energetics, and the relationship between mind & body to promote optimal healing.
